Azealia Banks has once again stirred up controversy, this time taking aim at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky in defense of Chris Brown. The rapper utilized her Instagram stories on June 5th to unleash a scathing rant against Brown, Rihanna, and Rocky, sparing no punches.
Banks kicked off her tirade by hailing Chris Brown as the greatest artist of this generation and criticizing the backlash he faced following his 2009 assault on Rihanna as hypocritical. The Harlem native didn’t stop there, alleging that A$AP Rocky is gay and taking a swipe at his fashion choices.
“Look at who she’s with now, a dude who wears back out shirts,” Banks stated. “He’s caught on camera fighting his best friend and kicking a female fan in the face. Really, he’s definitely a Butch Queen. I don’t know how nobody told Rihanna that. Maybe she’s into that, but Rocky’s definitely not straight.”
Banks concluded her rant by questioning the responsibility placed on others to make Chris Brown’s life difficult. She also made derogatory remarks about A$AP Rocky’s career and alleged personal life.
While Azealia Banks launched these attacks, Rihanna has previously discussed reconciling her relationship with Chris Brown in a 2020 interview released by Oprah Winfrey on her Super Soul Conversations podcast. Rihanna expressed that they had rebuilt their friendship and maintained a deep bond despite their past.
“I think he was the love of my life,” Rihanna shared. “He was my first love, and I believe he loved me the same way. It’s not about us being together; I genuinely care for him.”
In contrast, A$AP Rocky has not forgiven Chris Brown for his past actions against Rihanna. In his 2020 track “DAMN,” Rocky indirectly referenced the incident, asserting, “I don’t beat my bitch up, I love my bitch.”
The ongoing drama underscores the complex dynamics between these celebrities and the controversies that continue to surround them.
