It’s a. that’s a hard question to answer, because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the Press.

Prince Harry is publicly speaking for the first time about what really led to his Rift with the royal family.

In a new clip from the upcoming documentary tabloids on trial, which is set to air in the Uk on Itv on July 25th, Harry speaks openly about his case against mirror group newspapers with Itv journalists Rebecca Barry and how the legal fight impacted his relationship with his family members, such as King Charles Iii and Prince William.

To what extent do you think that your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?

I think there’s yeah, that’s, that’s a certainly a central piece to it.

Um, but you know they.

It’s a. that’s a hard question to answer, because anything I say about my family results a torrent of abuse from the Press.

Harry goes on to say that, although he wishes his family would have fought the battle against the tabloids alongside him, the father of two is doing it for his own reasons as well.

I, I, I, made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done.

It would be nice if we, you know, did it as a family.

I I believe that, again from a service standpoint and when you’re in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing.

Um, for the greater good.

But you know I’m.

I’m doing this.

I’m doing this for my reasons.

What do you think of their decision not to fight in the way that you had?

I I think everything that’s played out has has has shown people um, what the truth of the matter is.

For me, the mission continues, but it has.

It has, yes, it’s caused, as you say, part of a rift.

In December of 2023, a judge in London’s High Court ruled that there was extensive phone hacking over a 15-year Span in the 1990s and 2000s and that the Duke of Sussex’s phone was likely hacked to a modest extent by mirror group newspapers.

Harry’s attorney, David Sherborne, announced during an additional February 9th hearing that mgn and the prince had reached a settlement.

The publisher agreed to covering his legal costs and damages, as well as an interm payment of £400,000 or500 $5,000 for invading his privacy with phone hacking and other illegal snooping.

Per Nbc News, Harry’s attorney says this in a statement on Harry’s behalf outside of the courtroom.

After our victory in December, mirror group have finally conceded the rest of my claim, which would have consisted of another two trials, additional evidence and 115 more articles.

Everything we said was happening at mirror group was in fact happening, and indeed far worse, as the Court ruled in his extremely damaging judgment.

As the judge has said, only this morning we have uncovered and proved the shockingly dishonest way in which the mirror acted for so many years and then sought to conceal the truth.

Mgn, which publishes tabloids such as the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror, says in a statement obtained by E newss that it was, quote pleased to have reached this agreement, which gives our business further Clarity to move forward from events that took place many years ago and for which we have apologized.
