A Busy and Hot Week at Richmond
It’s been another hectic week for us. We just drove three hours to Richmond, and it’s scorching hot—98 degrees, but it feels like 108. Today, we have practice and qualifying, with racing set for tomorrow.
We made it back to Richmond, and it’s been a long day. We didn’t race until 7:30 tonight. Yesterday, we had practice and qualifying, leaving us with nothing to do all morning and early afternoon. It’s currently 6 PM, and driver introductions are coming up. The weather has been unpredictable, with a mix of sun and potential rain. I hope it doesn’t rain so we don’t have to use rain tires.
During practice, we were all focused. The radio was buzzing with updates about the track and strategies. Despite the heat, everyone was in high spirits, joking about needing umbrellas.
By the evening, the temperature slightly dropped, but it was still 91 degrees. As we prepared for the race, everyone was doing their best to stay cool. Ice packs were a topic of conversation, with mixed feelings about using them.
Once the race started, it was all about strategy and staying ahead. We faced challenges, like potential rain and the intense heat, but the team remained focused. We had some great moments on the track, especially towards the end, where we made significant progress.
In the end, we managed to get our lap back and were in a good position for the final stage. The last part of the race was intense, but we kept pushing. We ended up in a solid position, with strong performances and good pace during green flag runs.
Despite some missteps, like pitting a bit late, it was a successful race overall. The team worked hard, and our efforts paid off with a great finish. Looking forward to the next race and building on this momentum!
