It’s Wednesday, and we’re back at Millbridge for the fourth week in a row. It’s a beautiful day in North Carolina, the first warm one in months, so I’m excited to be racing in a tank top and shorts.
Chase Cabry and I are racing today. In qualifying, Chase went fourth quickest with a 10.349 lap time. Haley Deegan’s fiancé, Jason Persley, topped the board, with Chase in fifth. I’ve qualified third four weeks in a row now, and while we both have good speed, we had to fix a water line issue on my car.
In the heats, I started third, and Chase started fourth. It’s crucial to get into the dash to have a shot at winning tonight. In my heat, I fought hard and finished second, making it into the dash. Chase started on the pole for the dash and is good at leading when out in front.
For the feature, Chase led early, but Trevor Klein overtook him with 12 laps to go. Despite a late challenge, Chase finished second. I ended up ninth or tenth, similar to last week, struggling to find the right line.
We’re both a bit frustrated, but we’ll regroup and aim to win in two weeks after a short break.
