Prepare yourself for a harrowing abduction scene, a grandmother strolls along with three young toddlers. Suddenly, a stranger appears, draping himself with a blanket. The grandmother, stunned, rushes after him, leaving the bewildered twin brothers behind.

One of the boys is visibly distressed by the traumatic event. The grandmother had been watching over her grandchildren, guiding them home from a park in the Bronx, New York, when the abduction occurred.

Reacting swiftly, she gives chase, joined by concerned bystanders who hear her cries for help.Their pursuit leads them to confront the kidnapper, who, after setting the child down, nonchalantly walks away as if nothing happened. Mounting a scooter, he swiftly flees the scene.

Authorities locate him three hours later, asleep in a store doorway, identifying him as 27-year-old Santiago Salcedo. As he is apprehended and escorted away for arraignment, he offers a smile for the cameras. Furman Bracero, one of the brave bystanders, recalls the moment four individuals, including the grandmother, sprang into action.

Though the grandmother got close to the kidnapper, Bracero’s shouts prompted intervention. He vividly remembers demanding the child’s release and questioning the perpetrator’s actions. Grateful for the collective response, he emphasizes the importance of swift and decisive action in such situations.

 

Meanwhile, the mother of the children remains shaken but resilient, determined to navigate through the ordeal with strength and resilience.
