Edy inside with Tweety on him.
Count one.
When it comes to Us college basketball, there’s no bigger star than Purdue Zack.
Edy, the 7 fo4 Canadian Giant and likely player of the year, has done it all shot clock at eight Singleton to the hoop with the rejection, except earn money, like most other Ncaa athletes are able to do.
It’s easy to see all the different opportunities that Zach is missing out on.
Ed’s Representatives say for a player of his stature the endorsements would be endless.
We have other clients who they’re not players of the year.
Uh, by any means they’ve gotten a ton of opportunities.
Since 2021.
Ncaa athletes have been permitted to profit off their name, image and likeness, otherwise known as nil.
It’s changed everything, but International students on visas aren’t allowed.
Instead, missing out on a pool of money that has been Out Of Reach for decades, schools have been making extraordinary amounts of money, uh.
And the Ncaa itself, uh. selling the rights to things like March Madness have made, uh. exorbitant amounts of money.
And so this kind of allowed for the first time athletes to to take their um piece of the pie.
Experts say these deals haven’t just benefited big-time athletes at powerful schools.
I’ve seen athletes in division two and division three who haven’t had to take out loans for their tuition because of the money they’re receiving from nil deals.
They’ve changed their career paths after graduation.
For Canadian stars there are loopholes.
They can earn money from allowing their likeness in video games.
They can also do endorsements while physically in Canada, as Ed did when his Purdue team played in Toronto.
Kingston’s Aaliyah Edwards, a star at Yukon, has a deal with Adidas Canada but can’t talk about it while she’s in the Us.
With the return of March Madness and millions of eyes on College basketball’s biggest tournament.
Even Canada’s top Stars won’t be able to cash in.
