LA County Deputy Shoots Armed Robbery Suspect Through Windshield (VIDEO)

In a dramatic turn of events, a Los Angeles County deputy shot an armed robbery suspect through the windshield of his patrol car, following a tense standoff that was partially captured on bodycam and surveillance footage.

The incident began with a frantic 911 call. The caller, clearly distressed, reported, “He just showed it to me.” Although initially confused, the dispatcher quickly gathered that the caller was referring to a gun. The caller added, “I told him something about, like what he was here and are the gun and he show it to.” When asked what the suspect said, the caller replied, “I couldn’t really understand.”

Security footage from a gas station where the incident took place reveals the suspect mumbling incoherently. At one point, he demands, “Show me your ass now.” The gas station security guard can be heard responding, “Stop right there. Show me your hands. Stop right now.”

Bodycam footage from the responding deputy further highlights the intensity of the encounter. As the deputy arrives on the scene, he repeatedly commands, “Show me your hands. Show me your hands now.” The suspect continues to act erratically, prompting the deputy to shout, “Show me your ass now.” Despite the suspect’s non-compliance, the deputy maintains his position, continually ordering, “Stop right there. Now. Show your head.”

The situation escalates rapidly, and the deputy radios in, “998” the code for an officer-involved shooting. He continues, “Keep your hands where I can see them. Keep your hands where I can see them now. Let me see your hands.”

The deputy, fearing for his safety and the safety of others, ultimately fires through his windshield, striking the suspect. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in critical condition.

LA County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. They have stated that the deputy’s actions were in response to a direct threat posed by the suspect, who was brandishing a firearm and refusing to comply with commands.

This incident underscores the unpredictable and dangerous nature of law enforcement, particularly when dealing with armed suspects. The department has assured the public that all bodycam and surveillance footage will be reviewed to ensure that proper protocols were followed.
