In a surprising turn of events, country music star Jason Aldean has been dropped by his long-time publicist following a controversy involving his wife, Brittany Aldean. One of Nashville’s premier publicity firms, The Green Room, has announced that they will no longer represent Aldean.
Tyne Parrish, co-owner of The Green Room, stated in a message to Billboard: “Music has always been and remains The Green Room’s core focus. So, we had to make the difficult decision, after 17 years, to step away from representing Jason. We aren’t the best people for the gig anymore, but we’ll always be big fans of his music. He is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.”
This decision follows Brittany Aldean’s controversial comments on gender, which garnered significant backlash. On August 23rd, Brittany posted a video with the caption, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.” Jason responded with a laughing emoji and commented, “I’m glad they didn’t too cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out.”
The remarks were interpreted by some fans and fellow country stars, including Maren Morris and Cassidy Pope, as transphobic. In response to the mounting criticism, Brittany doubled down on her stance, condemning what she referred to as “the genital mutilation of children under the disguise of love” and labeling it as one of the worst evils.
By August 31st, Brittany claimed her comments had been misinterpreted. In an Instagram post, she stated, “Per usual, my words have been taken out of context over the last week,” adding that she isn’t “getting twisted about the twisting of my words.”
E! News has reached out to The Green Room, as well as Jason and Brittany Aldean, for further comments but has yet to receive a response.
In related news, E! has launched a new show on their YouTube channel called “Drive,” featuring celebrities in their cars. The first episode with NASCAR Champion Joey Logano is now available, with new episodes airing every Monday.
