Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, has sparked controversy following a recent Instagram post that drew criticism from fellow country artists Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope. The heated exchange began when Brittany posted a video of herself applying makeup, accompanied by a caption that read: “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”
This comment quickly ignited backlash, with Cassadee Pope leading the charge on social media. Pope tweeted, “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ people in their messaging. But instead, here we are, hearing someone compare their tomboy phase to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”
Maren Morris joined the conversation, responding to Pope’s tweet with, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag. Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.” Morris’s comment alluded to the Aldeans’ known support for former President Donald Trump.
Brittany Aldean was quick to respond to the criticism. She reposted Pope’s statement on her Instagram story, followed by her own message: “Advocating for the genital mutilation of children under the guise of love and calling it ‘gender affirming care’ is one of the worst evils. I will always support my children and do what I can to protect their innocence. Some parents want to be accepted by society so badly that they’re willing to make life-altering decisions for their children, who aren’t old enough to fully comprehend the consequences of those actions.”
She continued, “Love is protecting your child until they are mature enough as an adult to make their own life decisions. Thankful my parents allowed me to go through my tomboy phase without changing my gender. Until then, leave children alone.”
Brittany also shared a comparison of legal ages for various activities, emphasizing her point about the age for taking life-altering hormone blockers or undergoing surgery. She ended her response by once again resharing Pope’s and Morris’s statements, captioning the photo with, “Karen Morris, thanks for calling me Barbie.”
Support for Brittany’s stance poured in from various quarters. Jason Aldean commented on her post, saying, “My Barbie,” while fellow country artist RaeLynn added, “Barbies rule.” DJ Silver and political commentator Tomi Lahren also expressed their support, with Lahren stating, “Those girls are butthurt. That woke country will never catch on and they can’t fill an arena, let alone a restaurant, with fans. We got you.”
As of now, neither Maren Morris nor Cassadee Pope have responded to Brittany Aldean’s counterarguments. The debate continues to stir opinions online, with many eager to see how it will unfold.
