In the world of comedy, feuds can often be as entertaining as the jokes themselves. Recently, Cat Williams has found himself at the center of a heated exchange with fellow comedian Lil Rel Howery, and it seems there’s no end in sight.
During a recent appearance, Williams did not hold back in addressing Lil Rel’s recent comments, including allegations of jealousy towards Kevin Hart. “I will fold Lil Rel into a small package and sit him inside Kevin Hart, then tie it up with Gerard Carmichael and punt that,” Williams retorted, emphasizing his own appeal by stating, “You have to understand that I’m so attractive that I’m appealing to both men and women.”
This response was triggered by Lil Rel’s remarks during an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, where he discussed his long-standing beef with Williams. According to Lil Rel, the animosity began after Williams called him “ugly” in an unprovoked attack during an interview with Wanda Smith.
Lil Rel detailed the origin of the conflict, explaining that Williams’ comments came out of nowhere. “They going to let you be a star, Lil Rel, but you’re ugly, and white people don’t believe in ugly stars,” Williams had said. “They think you have to be someone that women want to sleep with and men want to be. But because we black, they say, ‘Oh, you don’t even deserve that.’ So you get Kevin Hart, Lil Rel, Gerard Carmichael all in a row. Hannibal, it’s just dudes that no woman would talk to in Lenox Mall, let alone you making them movie stars.”
In response to Williams’ comments, Lil Rel expressed disappointment and confusion. He recounted a time when Williams had once given him advice and predicted his future success. “He probably doesn’t even remember that,” Lil Rel mused. “It’s just sad. More than anything, right now, there’s a lot of unity in the game. Some of these bitter guys got to get out.”
The feud has since escalated, with Lil Rel accusing Williams of being jealous of Kevin Hart and describing his persona as “fake.” During an appearance on Club Shay, Lil Rel didn’t hold back, criticizing Williams’ appearance and questioning his relevance. “Who does Cat Williams think he looks like? You’re not an attractive person,” Lil Rel said. He went on to suggest that women would respond more positively to him than to Williams.
Williams, known for his sharp wit and unapologetic style, has previously taken jabs at Hart, alleging that his success was not organic and that he had been given movie deals from the outset of his career. “Have we heard of a comedian that came to LA and in his first year had his own sitcom on network television and his own movie called ‘Soul Plane’?” Williams asked rhetorically. “No, we’ve never heard of that before that person or since that person.”
The feud has left fans divided, with some supporting Lil Rel’s stance and others backing Williams. While some believe Lil Rel has every right to defend himself against Williams’ unprovoked attacks, others think he might be taking the comments too personally.
As the comedy community watches this feud unfold, one thing is clear: both Williams and Lil Rel are not backing down anytime soon. The real question remains: will they ever bury the hatchet, or will this rivalry continue to provide fodder for their comedy acts?
Only time will tell. For now, the fans are left to choose sides and watch as these two comedic powerhouses go head-to-head in a battle of words.
