17-Year-Old Leads Police on 100-MPH Chase (VIDEO)

Lufkin, Texas — In the early hours of the morning, a high-speed pursuit unfolded in Lufkin, Texas, as a 17-year-old driver led police on a chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The incident began around 1:30 a.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a Ford Mustang.

According to authorities, the officer directed the driver to stop in a well-lit gas station parking lot. Initially, it seemed the teen would comply, but as the officer approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly accelerated and sped away. Body camera footage captured the dramatic moment as the Mustang swerved left and rolled over several times.

Remarkably, despite neither the driver nor the passenger wearing seat belts, both escaped the crash without serious injuries. The vehicle, however, sustained significant damage from the rollover.

Lufkin Police Department has yet to release the identities of the individuals involved. The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are looking into the reasons behind the teen’s decision to flee.

This dangerous chase serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with high-speed pursuits and the importance of wearing seat belts. It also highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in ensuring public safety during such unpredictable events.
