Lufkin Officer Using Taser on Fleeing Robbery Suspect (VIDEO)

Lufkin, Texas — Clinton Polk, a 54-year-old parolee with a history of aggravated robbery, was apprehended on Sunday after a dramatic series of events that began with the theft of a woman’s vehicle.

The incident started when a woman reported that Polk, who she knew as her friend’s father, stole her Dodge Avenger from the 500 block of Kiln Avenue. The woman had left her car running while she went into her mother’s home, only to come out and find it gone. She informed the Lufkin Police that she knew Polk because she had previously helped him find a place to live after he was paroled. She also mentioned that Polk had become infatuated with her and had a history of threatening behavior.

In June, Polk had a parole warrant issued for an incident where the woman awoke to find him in her bedroom, watching her sleep. He then allegedly threatened her with a knife and took her phone to prevent her from calling for help. Following that incident, Polk was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, interfering with an emergency call, and possession of marijuana.

Approximately an hour after reporting the vehicle theft, the victim called 911 again to report that Polk had returned the car and was still at her residence. Officer Victor Najarro responded to the call and arrived at the scene to find Polk exiting the house. When the officer attempted to detain him, Polk pushed past and fled on foot.

Polk’s escape attempt led him through a neighboring yard where he tripped over flower pots. Officer Najarro deployed his Taser, which made contact but did not subdue Polk. The officer reloaded his Taser cartridge and continued the pursuit. Polk then tripped over a fence and, pretending to surrender, began climbing back over it. As he attempted to flee again, Officer Najarro deployed his Taser a second time, successfully bringing Polk to the ground.

Polk was taken into custody on the existing parole warrant and for evading arrest. Additionally, the officer plans to file a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle against Polk.

Clinton Polk is currently held in the Angelina County Jail, facing multiple charges from both the recent and prior incidents.
