In the scriptural passage Isaiah 38:1, the prophet Isaiah delivers a sobering message to Hezekiah: “Thus saith the Lord, set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.” This directive, though initially intended for Hezekiah, resonates deeply with us all. It beckons us to reflect on our spiritual state and prepare for the inevitable.
Hezekiah’s response to this grave prophecy was immediate and earnest. He turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord, beseeching Him to remember his faithful walk and sincere heart. This act of humility and repentance is a model for us today. When faced with our own mortality, do we have the spiritual integrity to appeal to God as Hezekiah did? Can we honestly say we have walked before Him in truth and with a perfect heart?
Our lives are filled with distractions and false teachings. Many of us are ensnared by the comfort of our current lives, holding onto material possessions and worldly achievements. Yet, we must understand that these cannot accompany us in the afterlife. No wealth, house, or car will matter when we face judgment. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize our spiritual wellbeing and align our lives with God’s commandments.
The modern church is fraught with deviations from true scriptural teachings. Preachers who endorse divorce and remarriage, condone homosexuality, or propagate racial segregation are misleading their congregations. The message is clear: Heaven is not segregated. It does not discriminate based on race, nor does the Death Angel, who comes for us all regardless of our earthly distinctions. The focus should be on living a life that is pleasing in God’s sight, not on societal or denominational divisions.
Repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ are fundamental steps toward salvation. If you have been baptized under incorrect doctrines or belong to churches that stray from biblical truths, it is imperative to seek re-baptism in accordance with the scriptures. The act of repentance involves a profound change of heart and mind, turning away from sin and towards God.
Hezekiah’s plea for an extension of life was granted because of his sincere repentance and humility before God. Similarly, God grants us opportunities to repent and set our spiritual houses in order. This is the greatest chance since birth to get right with God. The urgency of this message cannot be overstated; we do not know when our last day will be. Procrastination in spiritual matters is perilous.
Pastor Jennis emphasizes that our loyalty must lie with God above any church or organization. We must not be afraid to lose our positions or status if it means upholding the truth. The scripture calls for obedience to God’s word over any human teachings or traditions.
In conclusion, the call to set our houses in order is a call to action. It is a summons to examine our lives, repent of our sins, and align ourselves with God’s commandments. Whether you are young or old, wealthy or poor, the message remains the same: prepare to meet your Creator. If you have not yet repented and been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, now is the time. Stand up, take that step towards salvation, and embrace the truth of God’s word.
May God bless you with understanding and the courage to act upon this message. Come out of false doctrines and walk in the light of God’s truth. Remember, your soul is the most precious thing you possess; losing it means losing everything. Choose this day whom you will serve and make the decision to live a life pleasing to God.
