Phoenix Police Shooting Woman in Car (VIDEO)

Phoenix police officers responded to a distress call reporting a person passed out in a vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as a woman, refused to comply and fled the scene. Bodycam footage captured the intense encounter as officers pursued the woman and instructed her to turn off the vehicle and show her hands.

Despite repeated commands, the woman did not comply and continued to drive erratically. The situation escalated when officers noticed what appeared to be a gun in the woman’s hand. Concerned for their safety, one officer discharged his handgun, followed by another officer firing his shotgun. Additionally, an irritant was deployed into the car to encourage the woman to exit.

After the woman was finally removed from the vehicle, officers provided medical assistance until emergency services arrived. The woman was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the object believed to be a handgun was actually a butane lighter.

The incident underscores the challenges and dangers faced by law enforcement officers in high-pressure situations and highlights the importance of body-worn cameras in documenting such events for transparency and accountability.
