Selena Gomez is clarifying her relationship status after a throwback video sparked speculation about her past. The pop star took to TikTok to address comments from fans who claimed her younger self would never have considered getting engaged to Benny Blanco. The video showed Selena in a black dress with the caption, “I know, and so do you, that at the time she would never have gotten engaged to Benny.”

Selena responded in the comments, saying, “Kind of makes me laugh because I was so depressed back then.”

Since confirming their relationship on Instagram last December, Selena has shared glimpses of her bond with Benny. For his 36th birthday in March, she posted a tribute on Instagram, praising his emotional endurance, positive attitude, incredible talent, undeniable humor, and kind heart. “I love you, Benny Blanco,” she wrote.

Benny has also publicly celebrated Selena. For her 32nd birthday this month, he posted a photo of them together on Instagram, saying, “I used to play a teddy bear in your music video and now I get to be yours in real life. Happy Bday, baby.”

Benny’s romantic gestures have been memorable, including renting a movie theater for their first Valentine’s Day to watch her favorite film, Almost Famous, and providing all her favorite foods. He told Howard Stern in May, “I wanted to do something she loves. She loves movies, so I rented out a theater and made it really comfortable with a huge couch. I also brought all her favorite foods—fried pickles, Taco Bell, Hot Cheetos, and movie theater nachos.”

Looking ahead, Benny has hinted at future plans, saying, “When I look at her, I can’t imagine a world that could be better than this.”
