South Phoenix Standoff: Police Officer Ambushed, Nine Officers Wounded (VIDEO)

Newly released footage unveils the harrowing moment a Phoenix police officer fell victim to an ambush while responding to a call, resulting in nine officers being shot or wounded. The incident unfolded with the officer lured into a house by the shooter, as revealed in police-transcribed and blurred video.

According to police, the initial call was in response to a 911 shot fired from inside the house. As the officer approached, gunfire erupted from within, leaving the officer injured and calling for backup. The situation escalated into a standoff at the residence.

As additional law enforcement arrived, a man emerged from the house with a baby, whom he placed on the ground before being detained. However, as officers moved to rescue the child, they encountered more gunfire. The alleged shooter, identified as 36-year-old Morris Jones, was later found dead by suicide inside the home. Additionally, the woman who was initially believed to be the shooter’s ex-girlfriend was found fatally shot.

Miraculously, all nine officers and the child survived the ordeal. One officer, speaking out for the first time since the shootout, recounted the fear and uncertainty of being shot. Despite the chaos, officers pressed on with their mission, receiving praise from their superiors for their heroic efforts.

The man who emerged from the home with the baby was described by police as a family member following their orders. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident, and investigators do not suspect him of involvement in the ambush.

In a positive turn of events, all hospitalized officers have since been discharged and are recovering at home. The investigation into the ambush is ongoing, with authorities diligently working to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
