Connecticut Race Recap: Haley Deegan’s Road Course Challenge
Hey everyone! We’re in Connecticut, heading to Lime Rock Park for a race. It’s my first time here, and I’m excited to drive a Trans-Am TA2 car—something I haven’t done in about six years since my last experience at Sonoma.
The race is an All-Star event featuring big names like Greg Biffle, Ryan Newman, and Scott Speed. It’s going to be a tough competition, and I need to quickly learn the car and track. My teammate, who usually drives this car, will help set a baseline for us.
During practice, the car felt amazing, even on old tires. The grip on this track is impressive. After some adjustments, I managed to qualify fifth, which is great given the strong field.
Race day involves a team format where my teammate and I will share driving duties, with each stint scored separately. This setup adds an interesting twist to the strategy, as we need to maximize points in both stints to secure a win.
During the race, I held my own against some top competitors and had a blast racing. Despite a minor incident with a lapped car that cost us some positions, we managed to finish sixth overall. It was a fantastic experience, and I learned a lot from racing alongside such talented drivers.
I left the track feeling happy and fulfilled—a rare and welcome feeling. Road course racing has always been a passion of mine, and this event reminded me why I love it so much.
